With an array of activities available in the picturesque surroundings, our family had an unforgettable time at Emafweni. The location of the lodge is simply exquisite, nestled in the Drakensberg with the Monks Cowl Nature Reserve just a short distance away. We spent our days hiking the scenic trails and enjoying the breathtaking views of the majestic Drakensberg mountains. The Lakeside chalet provided a cozy retreat for our evenings, where we delighted in a traditional braai on the stoep while immersing ourselves in the serene beauty of nature. Emafweni truly offers a slice of paradise for families seeking a memorable outdoor adventure.
My wife says that the accommodation could benefit from some modern updates to enhance the overall comfort and convenience for families with children.

I keep coming back because Emafweni has it all - free Wi-Fi, parking, kitchenette, laundry, flat-screen TV. They even helped me with a room issue at night. It's a perfect fit for my needs. I'll be back for my next holiday.

As low-budget travelers, we were thrilled with the affordable rates and the spacious cottages at Emafweni. The stunning mountain views from the lounge area added a touch of tranquility to our stay. The owners, Rita and Paul, were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The property itself was safe and well-maintained, allowing us to explore with peace of mind. The nearby restaurants, such as the Valley bakery, offered delicious dining options. Emafweni provided us with a gem of a stay, offering a tranquil escape at a budget-friendly price.
Felt so well taken care of, no complaints at all.

The chalets at Emafweni are absolutely amazing! They are fully equipped with a covered patio, fireplace, and kitchen facilities. The bedroom has a skylight above the bed, and the en suite bathroom is luxurious with a bidet, basin, toilet, and a tub-for-two. Plus, there's a second bathroom with a shower, basin, and toilet. And guess what? There's even a washing machine and satellite TV in the chalet!
Personally, I found the satellite TV to be a bit unnecessary, but hey, some people might enjoy it.

A fantastic base for exploring the breathtaking Maloti-Drakensberg, with fully equipped chalets, a cozy fireplace, and mountain views. No need for a 4x4 to reach this hidden gem.
Oh, who needs an updated interior or modern furniture? I prefer to embrace the outdated charm and pretend I've time traveled to the 80s.

A beautiful lakeside cottage with friendly hosts, stunning views, and well-maintained gardens. Easy access to hiking trails and a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle. The cottage is well-equipped, although a few more plates would be helpful. Lovely restaurants and a must-try bakery nearby. The lounge area is perfect for relaxation with breathtaking views and ample sunlight. Tranquil and immersed in nature with a peaceful ambiance. Kudos to the wonderful hosts!

the outdoor environment was absolutely amazing and serene, making it a perfect getaway for families. the host, Rita, was incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring that we had an enjoyable stay. I particularly loved the outdoor experience at night, where I was able to gaze at the magical night sky filled with countless stars. the villa had everything we needed, and the fireplace added a cozy touch to our evenings. We also took a hike to the 'sphynx' at the Drakensbergen, a stunning natural formation, and enjoyed the scenic waterfall at the end of the trail. Emafweni Villa has truly become our new home away from the city, and we can't wait to visit again in the summer. Cons: Can't fault the property in any way! 👌.

The hotel's decoration was charming and had a touch of nostalgia, reminding me of my younger years. The common areas were well-maintained and provided a cozy atmosphere to relax in. The hotel was easily accessible for senior people, with no steep stairs or long walks to get to the main areas.
It would have been even better if there were more handrails and grab bars in the bathrooms and hallways, ensuring the utmost safety for senior guests.

There were so many dope activities to do in the area. We hit up a sick ziplining spot nearby and also went hiking in the mountains. The adrenaline rush was next level! Plus, we found out there's a sick club in town where we danced all night long. YOLO!
One thing that would've made our stay even better is if there was a pool or hot tub at Emafweni. It would've been super cool to chill and relax after our crazy adventures.

The array of activities in the surrounding area kept our children, aged 2 to 16, thoroughly entertained throughout our stay. From exploring Monks Cowl Nature Reserve to hiking the beautiful trails nearby, there was never a dull moment. The breathtaking views of the Drakensberg were the cherry on top, creating incredible memories for us all.
In my wife's opinion, it would have been great if there had been a designated play area or playground for the children.
